Worker killed while waiting for boss

A 33-YEAR-OLD worker of a cargo forwarder was shot and killed by two gunmen in barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.

Ritchel Madera, maintenance worker of U-Freight Cargo Forwarder, was waiting for his manager in a shed when two men peppered him with bullets early morning yesterday.

The victim had at least four gunshot wounds in the head, police said. The victim’s live-in partner told police that it had been the victim’s routine to wait for his manager at the shed where he’ll hitch a ride to work. Rachelle Buenaflor said she never noticed anything that bothered her partner. Buenaflor added she was not aware if the man got into trouble.

SPO2 Manolito Abellanosa said based on the victim’s gunshot wounds, the assailants could be professional hired killers.

Six spent shells and one live .45 cal. round were found in the crime scene, suggesting that the victim was shot from afar, police said.

The assailants approached the bloodied victim and finished him with close-range shots.

Witnesses told police that after shooting the victim, the assailants crossed the road and walked away, said police.
