Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested 11 persons after they raided a drug den yesterday in sitio Humay-Humay, barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
The NBI conducted the operation after receiving a tip about the proliferation of illegal drugs in the barangay.
Those arrested were brought to the NBI office in Cebu City where they are detained.
According to the report by the NBI, those arrested are Zenilyn Taping, Arthur Cartagena, Aldrin Clavero, Edwin Gonzales Jr., Alberto Ramirez Jr., Virgilio Bautista Jr., Zoren Munez, Rene Amoro, Edgardo Colina, Jeremy Cerenio, and Rodel Tampus.
In their report, the NBI failed to arrest the subject of their operation Jun “Boy” Hera when they barged into the house at around 4 a.m.
Surveillance operations were conducted by the agents for two weeks before they hatched an operation to arrest the suspects.
Recovered from the suspects were a small sachet of shabu, and drug paraphernalia, among others.
According to the report, Hera is suspected to be a drug peddler who can allegedly sell at least five kilograms of shabu every week.
Taping, whom the NBI tagged as the right hand man of Hera, denied the accusations against him.
Taping said he was just sleeping inside the house when the agents arrived and arrested him.
Taping also denied knowing Hera.
