MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Marce is almost stationary off Northern Luzon as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted a new low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Samar on Monday.
According to Pagasa, “Marce” was last located 1,300 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon and has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
Meanwhile, the LPA was spotted 75 km northeast of Borongan City, the state weather bureau said in its 4.am. bulletin.
“Base sa ating data at analysis ay mababa ang tsansa nito na maging bagyo at maaaring bukas ay malusaw itong LPA,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.
(Based on our data and analysis, this LPA has a minimal chance of developing into a storm. It may also dissipate tomorrow.)
Aurelio said Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA on Monday.
The entire Luzon and the rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
