CEBU CITY, Philippines – Commuters bound to and from Talisay City can expect more public utility vehicles (PUVs) plying in their area starting Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB – 7) confirmed that at least 15 units of modern jeeps will operate in Talisay City on Tuesday.
“We issued special permits for at least 15 units of modern jeeps last September 16 to operate in Talisay City, with Tabunok to Cebu City routes,” said Eduardo Montealto Jr., director of LTFRB – 7, in a phone interview with CDN Digital on Monday, September 21.
In a separate advisory, the public information office (PIO) of Talisay City announced that the modernized jeeps will be loading and unloading passengers in Alturas Terminal in Barangay Tabunok from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Montealto said at least 48 PUVs are presently covering routes in the southern portions of Metro Cebu.
These include buses, mini-buses, and modern jeeps passing through Talisay City.
Talisay City, which belonged to the territorial jurisdiction of Cebu province, has been placed under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) since September 1.
Based on guidelines from the national government’s anti-coronavirus task force, public transportation is allowed to resume in areas under MGCQ, the most relaxed form of community quarantine.
