Liloan logs 1 new case; total active cases now at 19

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Active cases of the coronavirus disease in Liloan town is now less than 20 while its number of recoveries are now 298.

On Saturday, September 26, this northern Cebu town logged only one new case of the infection, Patient No. 344, a 71-year-old female resident of Purok Bayabas in Barangay Yati.

With her addition, Liloan town’s active cases now are 19.

But while its COVID cases have started to “flatten,” town officials are asking residents not to be complacent.

“The Covid-19 virus is still upon us and persons not wearing masks and refusing to observe social distancing and prohibitions on mass gatherings, greatly contribute to the spread of the virus, putting lives at grave risk,” said the municipal government’s advisory.

Patient No. 344 was exposed to a family member who earlier tested for the infection.

She started to experience body malaise and cough on September 14 and was swabbed on September 23 prior to her admission to a private hospital in Cebu City.

Her test results showing that she had coronavirus disease was released two days later.

Patient No. 344 is now in a stable condition but she remains admitted to the hospital because she continues to manifest symptoms of the infection.

“The Liloan Covid-19 Operations Center is doing the contact tracing of all persons who had direct contact or were exposed to the confirmed cases. Mayor Christina Frasco has ordered that those who have been exposed to all confirmed cases should strictly undergo isolation for 14 days and that all areas or places of residence should be sanitized,” the town’s advisory read./dbs
