MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Personnel of the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) conducted a checkpoint and asked several motorcycle riders who were passing the vicinity of the Red Cliff at the Transcentral Highway on Sunday morning, December 13, to pull over.
But instead of giving the nervous drivers’ a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP), they received early Christmas treats from the agency that is led by Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec.
In an advisory, LTO-7 said they managed to distribute 200 sacks of 10-kilos of rice and 100 food vouchers that may be availed of from a nearby restaurant, to the drivers during their operation.
“Pinaskuhan ni nato sa mga motorcycle riders inubanan ang Highway Patrol Group ug sa PNP,” Caindec said.
(This is our Christmas gift to the motorcycle riders in coordination with the Highway Patrol Group and the PNP.)
LTO-7 also gave out 150 driving school scholarship certificates to help motorcycle drivers secure a license while five of them received new helmets as part of the agency’s raffle prizes.
Caindec said their Sunday morning operation was part of their agency’s road safety advocacy.
It was held two days after Caindec also meet with officials and members of motorcycle groups in a dialogue where they also discussed the ongoing apprehension of the motorcycles in relation to modification issues.
