Timeless devotion: A Boholana’s way of gratitude to Sto. Niño
The Solemn Foot Procession is an event during the Sinulog celebration that draws in many devotees, who participate as the venerated icon of Señor Santo Niño is carried across the streets of Cebu City.
This year alone, there were at least 1.4 million devotees who attended the procession. Some even came from their provinces just to attend the annual event.
One of these devotees is Maria Elena, a 57 year old devotee from Bohol.
Fiesta Señor 2025: 1.4 million join solemn foot procession
A bigger crowd of devotees braved the heat to take part in the solemn foot procession on Saturday, the eve of the Feast of Señor. Sto. Niño.
Authorities estimated the crowd to have reached 1.4 million. This year’s crowd count was higher compared to 2024’s 1.2 million.
Despite the hot and humid weather, and the presence of a huge crowd, the event went smoothly and even ended two hours ahead of schedule.
Fluvial Procession 2025: A seaborne journey of faith and history
The MV Santo Niño-Cebu, the official galleon, led the procession with the images of St. Joseph, Nuestra Señora de la Regla, and Señor Santo Niño de Cebu.

Despite a boat that ran aground, and minor delays, the fluvial procession for this year’s Fiesta Señor celebration went smoothly and peacefully.
Over 500 vessels and more than 8,000 individuals joined the seaborne procession along Mactan Channel on Saturday morning, January 18, the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) said.
“The event was generally safe, with no major incidents reported,” said Captain Jerome Lozada, Philippine Coast Guard Station Central Cebu Commander.

Sinulog 2025: 305 vessels set to join Fluvial Procession
A total of 305 sea vessels are set to join this year’s Fluvial Procession that will start on early Saturday morning, January 18.
As of Saturday, January 11, 305 sea vessels have registered to join the parade at sea, according to the the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7).
Registration for the Fluvial Procession for the 460th Fiesta Señor officially began last December 2, 2024, with the deadline initially set last January 6.
The registration period for the water parade was then extended until January 11.
