Capitol splits P37M security contract

TWO security agencies will be providing services to the Capitol following the decision of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) to split the P37 million two-year security contract.

BAC Chairman Mark Tolentino said it will be easier to manage if the province’s facilities will be divided into two areas and secured by personnel from two different agencies.

“If there are concerns regarding one particular agency, then at least the entire Capitol will not be put in jeopardy,” said Tolentino.

Area I, with a contract budget of P21 million, covers northern Cebu city and the rest of northern Cebu while Area II, with a contract budget of P17 million, covers southern Cebu city and the rest of southern Cebu.

The first area needs 111 guards while the second needs 91.

“This is actually a standard in big companies. There will be two areas that will be bid out. I told the agencies to just pick which area they like,” said Tolentino.

Four security agencies have signified their intention to bid for the first area while two have expressed their intent for the second.

Competing for Area I are Davao Cavaliers, Tactical Security Agency Inc., Golden Sun Investigation & Security Agency and Golden Hawk Security Agency.

On the other hand, GDS Detective Agency Inc. and Café Security & Investigation Agency Inc. are vying for Area II.

The winning bidders will provide security services to the Capitol for one year.
