CEBU CITY, Philippines — Barangay Lahug is reimposing certain control points as the cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) arise in the barangay and in Cebu City in general.

The barangay posted on their Facebook page that due to the surge in cases, the residents must be extra careful in their movement and in accepting visitors.

“To limit movements of our constituents in the different Sitios on Sundays, control points will be in place and the Lahug Public Market will be closed. We encourage everyone to please stay at home and avoid accepting visitors,” said the barangay in a statement.

The Lahug Public Market will be closed for an undetermined period of time. The barangay has not specified yet when the market will reopen.

In addition to the restrictions set, the barangay has urged the residents to avoid mass gatherings such as but not limited to sporting events, religious services, and work conferences. These shall be limited to fifty percent of the seating or venue capacity.

Quarantine passes will also be strictly checked within the barangay including the curfew of 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily. Only authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) or workers will be allowed to go beyond the curfew or go out without passes.

Stay-at home orders will also continue to be observed for any person below fifteen (15) years old, those over sixty-five (65) years old, those with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities, or other health risks, and pregnant women.

Lahug is the second barangay that has put restrictions again after the cases surged in January 2021. Barangay Guadalupe was the first to reimpose restrictions during the surge choosing to lockdown the barangay on Sundays. /rcg
