CEBU CITY, Philippines — A notorious drug personality who was tagged by police as one of Negros Oriental’s most wanted, was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Friday evening, February 5, 2021, in Barangay Tabuc-Tubig, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

After two months of case buildup, Negros Oriental operatives finally apprehended Joel Deimos Cimafranca, a security guard and the top 4 in the provincial drug target list,

The arrest was conducted around 8 p.m. jointly by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Negros Oriental Provincial Office, in coordination with the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office-Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), and the Dumaguete City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).

According to PDEA’s report, Cimafranca, who is a resident of the said barangay, can dispose of around 50 grams of ‘shabu’ per week. During the operation, operatives confiscated 1 sachet of suspected ‘shabu’ weighing more or less 1 gram with a street value of P6,800. The suspect has no previous records of drug-related activities, the police said.

Cimafranca will be charged for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /rcg
