MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Mandaue City’s road clearing task force will conduct a dry run to look at and evaluate partly the routes where the validation is expected to  occur on February 16, 2021.

Yesterday, February 15, was the deadline for the road clearing operation of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Ernesto Bongo, operations head of the Mandaue City Enforcement Unit (MCEU), said they would conduct a dry run today (Tuesday, February 16) to partially evaluate the city’s roads.

The MCEU will be joined by the city’s DILG, Police, Bureau of Fire (BFP), Housing and Urban Development Office (HUDO), Department of General Services (DGS), and other members of the city’s road clearing task force.

“Ato gyud sitang tan-awon gyud unsa pa ato’ng angayan buhaton mas ma improve pa nato ang ato’ng gi suggest nga dan ug mga streets, og duna tay angan nga limpyohon, limpyohon gyud nato,” said Bongo.

(We’ll see what needed to be done to improve the roads and streets that we suggested and clear what needed to be cleared.)

The task force will have a dry run on the eight barangays namely Centro, Guizo, Mantuyong, Ibabao, Tipolo, Alang-Alang, Cambaro, and Umapad.

“Hinuon dili ta mukuha sa posibilidad nga adunay changes sa actual na kay nag-agad man sad ta sa nagvalidate nato. Mao ni atong gisubmit nila pero kung mo suggest niya sila actual na, tingali dili ta kabalibad. Basta mao ni ato gisubmit sa ila, nga mao ni nga area ato’ng ivalidate kay mangayo man silag propose gyud nato nga area,” he said.

(However, we cannot rule out the possibility that there would be changes in the actual validation because we are only depending on those who would validate us. That is the reason we submit this to them but if they will suggest that this will be the actual validation, then perhaps we cannot say no to them. Just as long as we have submitted this to them. That this is the area that well be validated because they have asked that we suggest to them the area that they will validate.)

Bongo said they had already cleared most of the obstructions found in the barangay and national roads, but there would be obstructions that would come and go like the vehicle parkings and some ambulant vendors.

The DILG’s validation of LGUs’ compliance will be from February 16 to March 2, 2021. In Mandaue City, the DILG Lapu-Lapu will validate the city’s road clearing operations. /dbs
