MANDAUE CITY, Cebu—Mandaue City is preparing for the possible effects of typhoon Auring that is expected to hit Cebu this weekend.
The city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) personnel is now regularly monitoring the movement of the typhoon at the Mandaue City Command Center.
Based reports from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), it is likely that the typhoon will hit Cebu this weekend.

Buddy Alain Ybañez, head of the city’s DRRMO, said they have already told village chiefs in the city to assess their respective areas and report if there are structures or trees that could fall during bad weather.
Ybañez said they will trim tree branches or cut trees if it would pose danger to the public during the storm.
Ybañez said that their entire force will report to work on the weekend to be ready to respond to any incident.
The city is also urging its residents to be ready for the effects of the typhoon.
On Thursday afternoon, the DRRMO will have a meeting with the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM), City Social Welfare and Services (CSWS), Bureau of Fire (BFP) Mandaue, Philippine National Police-Mandaue, and Department of General Services (DGS) as part of the city’s preparations for the typhoon.
