MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — Mandaue City is still under blue alert until 8 a.m tomorrow, February 23, 2021.

Even if the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) has lifted all storm signals in Cebu and Auring has already weakened into a Low Pressure Area (LPA) on Monday, February 22, Mandaue City is still under blue alert.

Buddy Alain Ybañez, head of the Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MCDRRMO), said this is just to be prepared in case it will rain tonight and at dawn.

On blue alert status, not all MCDRRMO personnel are reporting to work and others are on call, but the rescue equipment and vehicles are positioned to respond to any incident.

On the other hand, Ybañez said they had not recorded any untoward incidents last weekend.

“Pasalamat ta sa Ginoo nga wala tay gi preemptive (evacuation) even though ato gihapon gituyok-tuyok nato, personnel sa DRRMO, specially kanang nagpuyo duol sa sapa. Gibalik gyud na nato og tan-aw. Wala tay recorded incident, atong personnel, ” said Ybañez.

(We thank God that we did not have to do a preemptive (evacuation) even though we, the DRRMO, went around informing those near rivers to be vigilant. We continued to monitor them and there were no incidents recorded by our personnel.)
