“Run Sara Van” launched in Cebu for Sara Duterte

The Run Sara Van motorcade makes its way at the Fuente Osmeña Circle.

CEBU CITY, Philippines –Supporters of presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has launched the movement, “Run Sara Van” in Cebu City to encourage her to run for the 2022 presidency.

The Partido Kalikasan led the launch at the Fuente Osmeña Circle on Saturday, February 27, 2021, through a motorcade.

The group believes that Sara would be able to continue the projects of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, and continue the “improvements” the incumbent President has started.

The party is hoping to gather 5 million signatures in their campaign to push the Davao City mayor to run for the presidency, despite the discouragement of President Dutere to her daughter to run for the country’s top office.

The campaign is called Rise with Inday Sara Economic Sustainability or RISE for Sustainability with the hopes to gather supporters of at least 5 million before the election season begins in 2022.

“Isinasagisag nito ang taimtim na paniniwala at pagtitiwala ng sambayanang Pilipino sa kakahayan ni Mayor Inday Sara ipagpatuloy ang adhikain ng pag-asa, tapang, malasakit, at pagbabago.

Some of the groups are also hoping that where her father failed, Sara Duterte will succeed in making federalism a reality for the Philippines.

The Partido Kalikasan is calling for those who believe that Sara Duterte can lead the country after her father, to join the campaign by signing the manifesto of encouragement for the mayor.

The group hopes that if Sara Duterte sees this support from millions of Filipinos, she will decide to step up and lead the country.

The party said they will not stop in Cebu and targets the entire Visayas for this leg of the Run Sara Van campaign.

Meanwhile, the group denied that they were the ones who put up illegal tarpaulins of “Run Sara Run” around Cebu City that had to be put down because the banners had no permit.

Partido Kalikasan said those banners were put up by either individuals who are supportive of Sara Duterte or other groups who also support her but are not connected to them.

They said that if they would post banners for Sara Duterte, they would go through the legal process and called all supporters to do the same.

While the Run Sara Van was being launched, supporters of Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” also conducted their own motorcade to urge the vice president to run for the presidential elections as well.

It is not clear if the supporters of Robredo were aware of the Run Sara Van motorcade happening moments before they arrived or if it was a deliberate move on their part. /rcg
