LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City Government will tie-up with private hospitals for storing the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines, once the city will already receive an allocation from the national government.

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan said that he already discussed this plan with private hospitals situated in the city.

“Tie-up ta ug private hospital nga dunay storage. Lakip na sa Lapu-Lapu City Hospital nga duna po’y storage,” Chan said.

“Kita sad, naa sad ta’y atoang storage nga area,” he added.

Chan also said that the city is also prepared to procure additional ice-lined refrigerators when the need arises.

Earlier, Mae Cheryll Tepait, the National Immunization Program nurse coordinator of the Lapu-Lapu City Health Department (LCHD), revealed that currently, their office can only store vaccines having a temperature requirement of +2 to +8 degrees Celcius with their six units of ice-lined refrigerators.

She added that they also have one unit of a freezer that can store vaccines having temperature requirements of -15 to -25 degrees Celcius.

Aside from this, Chan said that some Barangay Health Centers are also capable of storing these vaccines. /rcg
