Cloudy skies, rain showers over southern parts of PH due to LPA

MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rain showers are expected over some southern parts of the country due to a low-pressure area, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 5 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA was last spotted at 210 kilometers east of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

“Itong LPA ay mababa ang tsansang maging ganap na bagyo, pero continuous monitoring po tayo,” weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said.

(This LPA has a low chance of being a storm, but we are still continuously monitoring it.)

Because of the LPA, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol region, the Visayas regions, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “amihan” is currently affecting extreme Northern Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
