LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is in favor of the proposal of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes to follow a unified curfew in the tri-cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu.
Chan said that he already had an initial talk with Cortes on the said proposal and that they are also planning to bring this plan up with Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, and Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Currently, the curfew hours in Lapu-Lapu City starts from 10:00 pm and runs until 5:00 am the next day.
Mandaue City’s curfew hours are from 11:00 pm to 4 am while Cebu City follows an 11:00 pm to 5:00 am curfew.
“Ang rason nga gi-alas-10 (sa gabie), gi-alas-5 (sa buntag) nato ang curfew, tungod kay giminus nato ang pagpagawas sa mga tawo. Kung sayo ang imong curfew, sayo’g hipos ang tawo,” he added.
(The reason we made it from 10 pm to 5 am is to minimize the number of people going out. If the curfew is early, people will start to go inside their houses earlier.)
He added that essential workers, authorized persons outside residence (APOR), and frontliners are still exempted from the implementation of the curfew, as long as they show proof that they’re out due to work.
“But if they are out for leisure, then they will be caught,” Chan said.
The move to follow a unified curfew hours is done to help control the movement of people and prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
