Cebu City, Philippines—Despite the decline in the number of COVID-19 cases that were recorded daily in Cebu City in the past few days, the Department of Health in Central Visayas (DOH-7) will not recommend to the city government the lifting of the liquor ban.
Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of DOH-7, said on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, that it is still too soon for the city to lift such policy, especially that during the Holy Week, the agency was not able to do testing for COVID-19.
She said that as of the moment, they cannot attribute the decline in the number of cases to the effecctiveness of their health and safety protocol measures, along with the Cebu City Emergency Operation Center (EOC).
Aside from the liquor ban, Loreche also said that they will not recommend the resumption of cockfighting activities.
