THE Philippine Mental Health Asssociation (PMHA) and the Women’s Children Protection Office of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) will work together to do a profiling of suicide cases in Cebu Province.
Dr. Glenda Basubas, chairperson of the PMHA Cebu Chapter said they need to identify the specific number of age groups so that they can help suicidal people.
“Yes, children are possible. I even had a nine-year-old patient who attempted to commit suicide because he was depressed due to bullying,” Basubas said.
“The statistics may not lessen the cases but at least we know where are we going and how can we help,” Basubas added.
She explained that children are capable of doing suicide because of exposure to certain news, culture, and depression.
Less social interaction can also lead to depression.
