CEPCA chess: Lavandero chalks up a win
CEBU CITY, Philippines—Maria Kristine Lavandero captured the top spot in the Prexy Jerry Blitz Arena of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) weekly online chess tournament last Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Lavandero finished with 34 points to rule the 11-round Swiss system standard blitz competition.

Reynaldo Torres placed second with 32 points while erstwhile champion Kristina Belano finished with 24 points.
National Master (NM) Rogelio Enriquez Jr. who is also one of the top woodpushers of the Toledo City Trojans in the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP), dominated the All-Cepcans category with 10.0 points after 11 rounds.
Antonio Cabibil placed second with nine points while Filemon Kapuno III rounded off the top thee with 8.0 points.
The tournament’s cash prizes was sponsored by Cepca president Jerry Maratas.
