Ahong to get 2nd vaccine dose in Olango Island to encourage islanders to get the jab

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippine — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan announced that he will be receiving his second dose of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine tomorrow, June 16, 2021, in Olango Island.

The mayor explained that he preferred to be vaccinated in Olango Island to encourage the residents there to participate in the government’s vaccination program.

This after the city government noted a low turnout of those who have been inoculated of the vaccine on the island.

“Hinaot nga matabangan ta sa atong kampanya dito sa Olango kay medyo gamay tag turnout didto sa Olango. Mao na nga ugmang adlawa, I will do my second vaccination ngadto na sa Olango,” Chan said.

Chan also urged barangay officials to help in the campaign for the government’s vaccination program.

Currently, the city has already master listed, 79,122 individuals.

Of the master-listed individuals, 22,264 were already inoculated, wherein 17,247 individuals received the first dose while 5,017 got the complete doses of the vaccine.    /rcg
