MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Tricycle driver Alito Hukdong is now out of danger.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan announced on Saturday, July 17, that the operation to fix his broken arm was a success.
Hukdong was the driver, who broke his arm after his tricycle fell into a roadside digging in Barangay Pajac early morning on July 11, 2021.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Chan said that Hukdong was now recuperating after a successful surgery at the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital.
His wife, who was also injured during the July 11 accident, was already discharged earlier after she received treatment for her injuries.
But despite these developments, Chan said that he would continue to go after GT Construction, the project contractor, and make them answer for their negligence.
“Bisan pa man nga atong giabagar ang stainless ug bayad sa private doctor nga maoy miopera ni Alito, di pasabot nga makaikyas na ang kontraktor sa ilang responsibilidad. Dapat atubangon gihapon nila ang maong kasaypanan nga nagbutang sa duha ka kinabuhi sa peligro lakip na ang katong awto nga unang natagak,” he said.
(Even if we shouldered the expenses for the stainless (steel for the broken arm) and the payment of the private doctor, who operated on Alito, it does not mean that the contractor is already free of his responsibility. The contractor should still face the consequences of his negligence for putting two lives at risk including the car driver that also fell into the diggings.)

On June 24, a car driven by a Korean national also accidentally fell into the roadside excavation.
And while the contractor has already explained that they have installed early warning devices such as yellow line and concrete barriers in the area, Chan said these were only made after the accidents happened.
