CEBU CITY, Philippines — The woman who went viral after an online seller accused her of not paying the balance of the food package she ordered has reportedly filed a complaint for alarm and scandal against the seller at the Mabolo Police Station.
Police Major Renz Talosig, chief of Mabolo Police Station, said that a certain Maria Amy Hofilña, 53, a resident of Barangay Babag here, went to their office at around 10 a.m. on Monday, July 26, to file a complaint against Marjorie A. Alison.
On Sunday afternoon, Alison took an FB live video of her confrontation with the complainant regarding the latter’s refusal to pay for the balance of the food package that she ordered from Alison.
The video has sent went viral.
Talosig said that at first Hofilña just wanted to have the incident recorded in the police blotter but later decided to file a formal complaint against a certain Marjorie Abastas (Marjorie A. Alison in Facebook) whom she claimed was the one filming her inside her property.
Talosig added that before Hofilña went to their office, the latter sought assistance from the region’s Anti-Cybercrime Group but she was told that nothing libelous was shown in the said video that went viral.
The personnel from the Anti-Cybercrime Group then referred Hofilña to the police station.
Talosig added that they also advised Hofilña to settle this issue at the barangay level. But, Hofilña allegedly claimed that she has no information about the person she ordered the food package from since it was done online.
Hofilña also claimed that the person she ordered the food package from is not the one who took the video.
Talosig said that based on the account of Hofilña, she booked a catering worth P19,000 good for 50 to 60 persons.
“Base sa iyang storya, nagpa book daw syag catering worth P19,000 unya nag down sya og P9,000, gihulog niya sa Palawan. Nagpakita pa syag receipt. Unya ang kanang iyang gipa book daw nga worth P19,000 is good for 50 to 60 persons nya inig abot daw sa order niya, ang kadtong pagkaon nga ming abot gamay ra, mura og di kaabot og 50 to 60 persons,” he added.
“Nya niabot karon ang katong maningilay, wa guro sila nagkasinabot, naglalis sila. Gikwestyun siguro nya ba kung ngano mang gamay ra ang kantidad nga iyang gibayaran dako. Didto siguro nagsugod. Pero ang unang niadto sa iyang balay daw kay mao ratoy maningil ug naghatod sa pagkaon, dili sad daw to ang iyang gi orderan. Ang kadtong nag video-video lahi lang sad daw to,” Talosig said.
Talosig added that Hofilña also told him that she has plans of paying her balance. She just questioned why there were few dishes delivered which was contrary to what was originally agreed.
Meanwhile, the food package supplier has sought the assistance of public service icon Raffy Tulfo this afternoon, July 27, in the latter’s Wanted Sa Radyo program over TV-5.
Tulfo told Marjorie Abastas that he would shoulder the payment of the balance worth P9,800 since Hofilña begged off from talking to the host as she was still reportedly driving at the time the call was made. /rcg
