CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu City police noted lesser apprehensions reflective to lowering COVID-19 cases in the city for the past four days.

But Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), reminded the public that lesser apprehensions does not mean lesser operations.

He said it is best to continue strict implementation of Oplan Puyo as he believes the public is already getting used to the existing health protocols in the city.

Admitting that he has no figures of apprehensions during the interview, Parilla said that in general, they have good result in their implementation. With the sufficient personnel they have and their 24-hour regular monitoring, he said city’s status in terms of peace and order is improving.

“We have a good result sa  implemention sa atoang makita sa pagkakaron, although the exact result sa atong Oplan Puyo will not be felt immediately,” Parilla said.

(We have a good result in our implementation that we can observe now. Although, the exact result of our Oplan Puyo will not be felt immediately.)

The Cebu City Emergency Operations Center, for its part, also assessed the COVID-19 status in the city is improving.

From August 26 to August 29, the Department of Health in Central Visayas has noted lessening COVID-19 cases in Cebu City. The downtrend started from 230 cases on August 26; 221 on August 27; 205 on August 28; and 179 on August 29.

Parilla reiterates that violators for the imposed curfew hours is their recurring problem here.

For now, Parilla encourages the public to stay at home if there is no essential errands to do outside and always observe and follow the health protocols implemented.
