Two Filipino mixed martial arts stars, including a Cebuano, will try to hold high the Philippine flag when they see action in the coming One Fighting Championship’s (One FC) “Reign Of Champions” fight card on Aug. 29 at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, UAE.
The Dubai-based Cebuano MMA artist Vaughn Donayre clashes against Syrian mixed martial artist Mohamad Walid in the undercard.
Donayre quit his mechanical engineering job and moved to Dubai to chase his passion in mixed martial arts and has since won seven of his last eight bouts.
The other Pinoy seeing action in the tourney is Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton, the first Filipina boxer to win the women’s WBO Super Bantamweight and IBA Super Bantamweight World Championships.
Julaton’s signing with One FC marks her first step to becoming a two-sport athlete.
She made a successful One FC debut by defeating Aya Saber of Egypt and will return to the One FC cage looking for the second win in her mixed martial arts career.
Her opponent, Ann Osman, is the first female Malaysian mixed martial artist to compete in a major mixed martial arts organization.
