CEBU CITY, Philippines—Omega Boxing Gym stalwart Mark “Rasta Mac” Vicelles apologized to his supporters for withdrawing from his fight due to a right elbow injury.

The undefeated Vicelles was supposedly going to headline Omega Pro Sports International’s “Kumbati 11” versus Jayson “Striker” Vayson, who is also unbeaten, on October 22, 2021.

The 25-year-old Vicelles, who sports a record of 14 wins with eight knockouts and one draw, told CDN Digital that he is currently recovering from the injury he sustained from his training.

“Sayang kaayo tungod sa nahitabo, duol na lang unta kaayo akong fight nga gi prepare nako ug  maayo,” said Vicelles, the pride of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

“Pero okay lang. Basin naa pa plano ang Ginoo nga mas nindot pa nga dula para sa ako-a.”

He added that he’s already feeling better, and is excited to get back into training.

“Wala gihapun ko ga pabaya training. Nag training gihapon ko karon kauban sa akoang coach. Karon medyo okay naman akoang siko pero dili pa jud full naka recover,” added Vicelles.

It would have been another acid test for Vicelles, who is rated No. 5 in the World Boxing Council (WBC), No.  7in World Boxing Organization (WBO), and No. 12 in the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Vayson initially withdrew from his fight with Vicelles due to an apparent injury. He could have been a worthy acid test for Vicelles for having an undefeated record of 9-0 (win-loss) card with five knockouts with one draw in his resume. Vayson’s most recent bout ended with a knockout victory versus Geboy Mansalayao.

Before that, he and IBF world minimumweight champion Rene Mark Cuarto fought in 2019, which ended in a draw.

Replacing Vicelles in the main event of Kumbati 11 is his stablemate Christian Araneta, who will face Arnold Garde.
