It was another day in the office for vetaran Noel Tillor and Amale Jopson as they ruled the University Run 9 yesterday the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) campus at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
Tillor used his veteran skills in dealing with the famous three-bridge challenge of the University Run series to finish first in the men’s 25-kilometer race with a time of one hour, 34 minutes and 50 seconds.
Jopson, wife of the multi-titled triathlete Noy Jopson, crossed the finish line in 2:22.25 to win the women’s crown.
The three-bridge challenge is the highlight of the running event, wherein runners in the 25k and 13k distances had to pass the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, Old Mandaue-Mactan Bridge and Cansaga Bridge before going back to the finish line at the CDU campus.
Paul James Zafico (1:36.19) and Robert Daang (1:41.08) were the runners up in the men’s 25k race.
The technical team handling the race yesterday was not able to get the name of the second placer in the women’s 25k race. The third placer was Dr. Gina Facturan, who finished in 2:29.11.
In the 25k alumni category, Michael Claudio and Nicole Chua were the winners, finishing in 2:00.02 and 3:15.17, respectively.
Kenyan James Mibei, meanwhile, won the men’s 13k category as he clocked 50:33. Rosalie Ardiente topped the distaff side with a time of 1:15.29.
Michael Largo (54:15) and the comebacking Adonis Singson (54:23) were second and third, respectively, in the men’s 13k race.
Andrea Yu (1:18.23)was the runner up in the women’s side. Ryan Gonzaga and Dr. Lalaine Sacris topped the 13k alumni division.
The 6k and 3k races were exclusive for CDU’s students and faculty members.
Highlighting the race was the presence of celebrity couple Karylle Padilla and Yael Yuzon, who were part of the 3,500 who joined the race organized by the Run For Sight Foundation.
