German automaker Volkswagen officially opened its Cebu dealership last Friday, Sept. 26, along A. Soriano Avenue at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
The grand opening was attended by some noted officials such as Automobile Central Enterprises, Inc. president and CEO John Philip Orbeta, Iconic Dealership, Inc. general manager Tito Solomon, and Volkswagen Cebu general sales manager Hans Lienaw. Also present were Volkswagen AG Area Manager for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Philippines Clemens Roettgen and Volkswagen AG Area Manager for Asia Joerg Andrischock.
Volkswagen officials expressed excitement and optimism with the performance of the brand in the Queen City of the South.
“We find Cebu as a natural fit for Volkswagen. We realize sales, for example, in Metro Manila, easily about 50 percent are entrepreneurs and Cebu, for that matter, is an entrepreneur base that’s why we think we can be successful in Cebu,” Orbeta said.
Offering the Cebu market German-engineered cars in reasonable prices is one of the goals of Volkswagen Cebu, which is part of the Ayala Automotive Corp.
Volkswagen, the world’s second top-selling brand, is the maker of the legendary Beetle, Touran, Polo, Golf GTi, Jetta, Touareg and Tiguan. All these models will be available in the Cebu dealership. /USJ-R Masscom Intern Chens Judale Plenos
