CEBU CITY, Philippines – Sea trips for all vessels and watercrafts in Central Visayas are set to resume today, April 13, three days after authorities suspended these due to bad weather conditions.

The Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) on Wednesday, April 13, announced that they have lifted all suspension of sea trips in the region.

“In line with the latest PAGASA weather forecast, all suspension of trips for all vessels and watercrafts in all ports of Central Visayas have been officially lifted,” PCG-7 said.

Non-stop rains and strong winds brought about by the low-pressure area (LPA) formerly called Tropical Depression Agaton (international name: Megi) prompted authorities here to cancel all sea trips since Sunday, April 10.

Based on the latest data from PCG-7, a total of 763 passengers were stranded in various ports in Central Visayas.

The state weather bureau on Tuesday, April 12, lifted all Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) in the region but the coast guard did not immediately allow vessels to sail again as Agaton continues to linger in most parts of the Visayas.

The severe weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Agaton has weakened into an LPA on Tuesday evening.

However, it continues to bring moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Visayas and the northern and central portions of Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands.
