A dismissed policeman who is facing robbery charges was arrested outside his house in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
The arrest of Ronilo Manuel, who was assigned at the Cebu City Public Safety Company (CCPSC) when he was still in the active service, stemmed from a robbery case where he was accused of robbing a taxi driver in barangay Talamban last Feb. 2.
It was also found out that Manuel is the man in a video clip posted on YouTube showing him using shabu.
The arrest warrant against Manuel was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Alexander Acosta of Branch 9. Bail was set at P100,000.
Police are also checking if Manuel was involved in the robbery of Western Union branch in barangay Guadalupe last Thursday.
Supt. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch, said they are verifying reports that Manuel and another dismissed policeman from Oroquieta City connived in robbing Western Union.
Manuel is facing a separate case after he allegedly robbed a woman on R. Landon Street in Cebu City a week after the robbery in Talamban.
Charges were filed against Manuel but he was able to post bail.
Manuel refused to comment on the charges filed against him.
He, however, confirmed that he was the man using shabu in a video clip entitled “BoyHigop” posted on YouTube last Oct. 12.
“Yes that’s me,” he said.
Santander said they have yet to check if Manuel was involved in illegal drug activities.
