A female traffic enforcer of Mandaue City is in critical condition after she was hit by a speeding car while on duty on J.P. Rizal St., Paknaan, Mandaue City yesterday afternoon.
Evelyn Suan, 36, assisted pupils of St. Anne Learning School in crossing the streets.
When she went back to her post across the school, a Toyota Avanza driven by Zosimo Mangubat, 62, hit her.
Suan landed on the hood of the car and the windshield crashed because of the impact.
Mangubat applied brakes and Suan fell into the pavement and rolled three times.
The incident was captured by the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed in the area.
Em-em Flores of the Bantay Command Center of Mandaue City said the CCTV footage shows that Mangubat was traveling at high speed.
Suan was brought to Chong Hua Hospital.
Mangubat promised to shoulder Suan’s hospital bills as her family agreed not to file charges against the driver.
Mayor Jonas Cortes and the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (Team) will also give assistance to Suan’s family.
Suan is assigned in the area to assist kid crossing the street. Her husband is also a member of Team.
Cortes instructed Team head Edwin Ermac to review the safety rules of traffic enforcers to the same incident from happening again.
