Korean driver runs over Ban-Tal traffic aide

A 38-year-old female traffic enforcer was killed after she was hit by a speeding van driven by a Korean resident as she was manning traffic along Gov. Cuenco Ave. in barangay Banilad, Cebu City at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Maria Teresa Bascones of Basak Pardo was rushed to the Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Hyundai Tucson, Sun Kyung Heo, was arrested and detained at the Tourist Police detention cell. She will be charged with reckless imprudence re—sulting to homicide.
According to SPO1 Perferio Lim Jr., traffic investigator, Bascones was manning traffic near the Gaisano Country Mall when she was hit by Sun’s vehicle.

Sun said she came from the mall and was about to make a left turn heading north when she accidentally hit the victim.

Rustico Aguhar, also a traffic enforcer, said a doctor who was passing by assisted in giving first aid to Bascones before she was taken to the hospital.
