Gothong National High School tops largest archery tilt, champ school has 837 pts

The Gothong National High School reaffirmed its status as Cebu’s archery powerhouse after emerging overall champion in the historic Largest Archery Tournament which eneded yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center Gym.

The tournament gathered a record 13,102 participants from 69 elementary and 40 high schools around Cebu City.

Event organizers led by Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) Chairman Edward Hayco, Architect Don-Don Sombrio and coach Pacheco Valenzona will be submitting documents pertaining to the tournament and of last Saturday’s Largest Archery Lesson which gathered 745 students to officials of the Guinness Book of World Records for authentication.

Gothong High School collected 837 points to top the event followed by Barrio Luz Nat. High School (523 points), Lahug Elem. School (520), Kalunasan Elem. School (507) and Lahug Night High School (330).

Members of the powerhouse Gothong archery team are Jennylyn Cabiso, who won the gold medal in the 3rd and 4th year secondary girls’ category, Warren Obaob, the Grade 9 and 10 boys’ winner and Grade 7 and 8 Boys champ Harry Fritz Forosuelo.

Forosuelo alongside Christian Caresosa and Brian Cabiso also gave Gothong the gold in the Grade 7 and 8 boys team event, while Cabiso and Pacundo led Gothong’s golden finish in the 3rd and 4th year girls’ team event.

Gothong also won gold in the Grade 9-10 boys team event courtesy of Obaob, Robert Velasco and Kevin Reign Ramos.

Completing the top 10 schools are Napo Elem. School (315), Talamban Nat. High School (233), Kang-Atis Elem. School (216), Buhisan Elem. School (203) and Inayawan Night High School (200).

Yesterday’s other winners include Eljon Dave Balasabas of Bacayan Elem. School in the Grade 3-4 boys; Jiralyn Solon of Kang-atis ES in girls Grade 3-4; Johvert Aurelia of Inayawan ES in Grade 5-6 boys; Shen Ahlrose Aleonar  of Pardo ES in Grade 5-6 girls and the Punta Princesa Elem. School in the Grade 5-6 boys team event with Ezar Simone Neri and Johannes Pavio Moste playing.

Pardo ES also topped the Grade 5-6 girls team event with Shen Ahlrose Aleonar, Rafaela Sabello and Eleyna Renee Marquez while Guadalupe ES bagged the Grade 7-8 girls team event gold.
