LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The police officer, who was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion, Badian town, tested negative for illegal drug use.
This was confirmed by Badian Police Station on Thursday, August 24, 2022.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Patrolman Apollo Concepcion, 41, married, a resident of Barangay Legaspi in Alegria, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Poblacion, Badian.
Concepcion was assigned to the Provincial Tactical Operation Center (PTOC) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CCPO).
The police confiscated from Concepcion an estimated 20 grams of suspected shabu worth P136,000, P2,000 buy-bust money, a hand grenade, and a sling bag.
Police Corporal Johnrey Dusal, the investigator of Badian Police Station, said that Concepcion underwent drug testing on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, as part of their procedure for police officers involved in the illegal drugs trade.
“Gi-drug test nato siya sir as part sa atong procedure sa mga police nga mag-involve sa drugs,” he said.
Dusal said that they consider Concepcion as a high-value individual (HVI). He added that Concepcion is supplying drugs in Badian and neighboring areas.
Dusal also admitted that he was shocked after knowing about the illegal activities of the suspect.
“Sobra pa sa shock sir, pero anaa man sa tulo, upat ka mga na-custody nato nga nitudlo niya nga adto sila niya magkuhaan,” he added.
Also arrested during the operation were Charisse Ylaya, 34, Concepcion’s live-in partner and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Badian; and Raphael Legarde, 21, a resident of Poblacion, Alegria.
The Badian Police Station is already preparing the proper charges that will be filed against them for violation of sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act no. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. /rcg
