The Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital has reopened two weeks after a fire forced the healthcare facility to shutter its doors.
According to hospital administrator Oscar Tuazon, the opening was partial as some of the rooms are not available yet. As of yesterday, they have 50 of the hospital’s 300 beds available.
A total of 10 patients were admitted after the hospital started admitting patients.
Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, CDUH medical director, also made the announcement on his Facebook account.
“Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital is now open. Thank you for your support and prayers!”, he said.
By the end of the week, Tuazon said, all the rooms will be available for in-patient services.
Tuazon said they are making sure that everybody will be safe before they can have a full-blown operation.
“Today, we determined that we’re in a position to provide all out-patient services, while the in-patient services are operating slowly, but surely depending on the room accommodation. By the end of the week, we have all 300 rooms available already”, Tuazon said.
The hospital was closed after the Oct. 28 fire that started in the linen section on the basement. Around 200 patients were evacuated from the hospital that night.
Tuazon said investigation on the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
Tuazon again apologized to the patients and the public for the inconvenience caused by the incident.
Tuazon assured yesterday that no increase of fees will be implemented in whatever transactions at the hospital.
