Athletic director happy for UC

The University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters displayed commendable performances in reclaiming the secondary division title in the recent 24th Cebu City Olympics.

This is the assessment of UC athletic director Bernard Ricablanca, who told Cebu Daily News yesterday that he’s happy that the team regained the secondary division championship title after losing it last year to the University of San Carlos-Basic Education  Dep’t (USC-BED) Baby Warriors.

UC took home the high school category tiara after the Baby Webmasters collected 51 golds, 37 silvers and 45 bronze medals with the USC-BED taking the second place with a 45-30-43 tally.

“It’s okay if we didn’t win the overall title,” Ricablanca said. “At least, nakuha nato ug balik ang secondary division title. Our 22 years of being a champion in the Cebu City Olympics is already something for the history books.”

The Baby Warriors were crowned as the overall champions in the combined elementary and secondary division medal count aside from coming out as the elementary division champions.
USC collected an aggregate total of 80 golds, 68 silvers and 62 bronzes, while UC had an overall tally of 59-39-46.

USC-BED came out as elementary division titlists after plucking 35 golds, 39 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Aside from being a 22-year champion in the Cebu City Olympics, UC also held the Milo Little Olympics Cebu championship title for 16 years. “Wala pa’y nakakuha ana nga record sa tibuok Pilipinas,” Ricablanca said.
