Top-notch Cebuano motocross rider Jon-Jon Adlawan and Venil Abellar went home with the top honors in the sixth leg of the 2014 MS Motosuit Motocross Series dubbed as the 5th Mayor Nice Apura Invitational Motocross held over the weekend in barangay Valladolid, Carcar City, southern Cebu.
Virtually sealing the most coveted Rider of the Year award, Adlawan ruled the expert open division, beating Dondon Yuson and Abellar, who settled for second and third places, respectively.
Abellar scored some measure of revenge when he defeated Adlawan in the the pro open crown. Winsor Famorca of Guimaras Island finished third, while Yuson and Cyril Tariman wound up fourth and fifth to complete the top five.
Also coming up with solid performances were JP Cuesta, Jed Luna, Clinton Gualiza, Jougie Basco and JB Bacabac.
Cuesta was crowned champion in the open enduro battle, while Luna dominated the local enduro race. Gualiza bagged the beginners open production title, Basco ruled the novice open class, while Bacabac topped the intermediate open race.
John Flores also had a strong showing as he wound up with two runner-up finishes in the novice open and intermediate open.
Pepo Rubi, on the other hand, won the executive A race, while James Doroy and Nonoy Reluya snatched the executive B and C titles, respectively.
BJ Pepito secured the 85cc titles at the expense of runner-up finishers Jay Villarino and Gyles Aguilar. Alfonso Castañares bagged the mini 50cc category crown, while Lloyd Abrenica topped the mini 65cc contest.
In the ladies open race, Mariel Villafuerte emerged champion followed by RP Cuesta, Kristine Hisoler, Shane Reluya, and Faith Cuyos.
Charise Lauron ruled the 12-below division while Tiffany Marapao and Jenette Olanda settled for second and third, respectively.
The Laurons had a double celebration as as Charise’s father Amy Lauron topped the exclusive category among the Carcaranons. Lorenzo Zordan dominated the underbone race followed by Willy Borces, John Allen, Welmar Zaldi, and Imok Taruna.
