LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas (DA-7) has already distributed fertilizer subsidy to 1,216 corn farmers in the region in December last year.
The agency has already disbursed a total of P2.423 million for the said program, which was funded under the agency’s Corn Program.
Under the program, corn farmers received P2,000 worth of inorganic fertilizer vouchers.
During the distribution, the agency also invited accredited merchants on-site so that farmers can immediately claim the corresponding quantity of fertilizers.
In a Facebook post of DA-7, it said that of the 1,216 corn beneficiaries, 722 were from Cebu, 318 were from Bohol, and 176 were from Siquijor.
The agency will also distribute fertilizer vouchers in Negros Oriental, which will be done in the coming months.
It added that qualified farmer beneficiaries were users of National Seed Industry Council (NSIC)-registered corn varieties, members of corn clusters, duly registered in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA), and whose names were reflected in the National Farmers’ and Fishers Registry System.
