Miss Earth back home in Cebu

The Queen is back in her hometown. More than two weeks after her victory, the newly crowned Miss Earth 2014, Jamie Herrell, arrived in Cebu to spend Christmas with her family.

“Nothing beats home. Life has been more hectic after the pageant, but still it’s good for me. I also need to catch up with my family first since I will be busier with  my Miss Earth duties,” Herrell told reporters.

The 20-year-old Cebuana  said she looks forward to  upcoming travels to  Finland, Egypt and Guam.

Herrell, who was  2013’s Sinulog Festival Queen, would not confirm initial reports that she would be dancing in next month’s  Sinulog festival.  But she  promised to be in town during the Sinulog as she is a Sto. Niño devotee.

“The Sto. Niño has done a lot for me especially  with all the blessings that I have  received.”

The Miss Earth crown she said “is not just about publicity work. It’s not about being pretty. I want to become the voice of the people and to help the environment.”

Herrell, who  thanked the Cebuano community for their support in the contest,   said it  had  been her dream to win the Miss Earth title.

She said she  will be active in the “Think Twice Campaign” which  encourages people to find ways to save  mother Earth.
