HAVING an office building is a dream come true for Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-7) Regional Executive Director Isabelo Montejo.
The new three-story DENR-7 building at the National Center in Sudlon, barangay Lahug, Cebu City was blessed and inaugurated last Wednesday.
“I could still remember that two years ago this area was rough, no developments and only considered as nursery area,” a smiling Montejo as he delivered his speech.
The building has a total floor space of 1,816.83 square meters and costs P21,028,798.89. It is built on a 4,000 square meter lot.

The edifice is equipped with adequate downspouts connected to a cistern to retain rainwater during heavy downpours. The water collected would then be used to flush toilets among others.
Glass panels were also installed to allow more sunlight to come in for better lighting thus reducing dependence on electricity.
To add more aesthetic value, the structure is surrounded with ornamental plants.
The DENR-7 building will house around 155 employees with enough area to accommodate all clienteles who flock to the office daily for various transactions.
Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, who attended the inauguration, said, “DENR has been chosen as one of the best departments. Dapat hindi pinababayan ang mga empleyado para mas ma deliver ang serbisyo sa taong bayan.”
“Pero may ka-akibat din itong responsibilidad at serbisyo. The Filipino people should benefit every peso that they have given to us. That is our promise to the Filipino people,” he added.
DENR Undersecretary for operations Demetrio Ignacio and other regional directors from the rest of the country also attended the event.
