SWU Villa opens; houses the College of Dentistry

The closing of the school year is fast approaching in a few months, and Southwestern University (SWU) PHINMA is already on the brink of preparations for SY 2023-2024. The university now focuses on new facilities that will enhance student learning.

In line with this, SWU PHINMA officially opened SWU Villa, a 7-story building that will serve as the new home of the College of Dentistry.

SWU President Chito Salazar, COO Cheryl Jane Chan, Assistant COO Katrina Mae Velasco, and the Dean of the College of Dentistry Dr. Rodivick Docor led the opening ceremony last March 9, 2023.

The SWU Villa is a facility designed to enhance student learning. This edifice comes with more extensive and modern classrooms and laboratories designed for students to practice their skills in various dental procedures.

According to Salazar, “For those who don’t know why this is called SWU Villa, this corner used to be Villa Aznar, and this was the location of the Aznar family’s house. For the longest time, one of the family’s ancestral homes was on this side. But we decided to give it to the College of Dentistry since it is growing.”

“As you can see, we continue to build. As a matter of fact, our next work is a new construction that will be the new CAS building. We also plan that the front of SWU will become a little township. We are also upgrading the facilities in Basic Education. So, we continue to improve the university,” he added.

Among the new developments in SWU PHINMA are the two advanced patient stimulators and multi-million pesos equipment of the College of Nursing; South Paws, the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Animal Hospital; the groundbreaking of a new 10-storey Arts and Sciences building; and the completion of the MBA Case Room, faculty hub for the School of Health and Allied Health Sciences, doctors’ clinics, pharmacy department, and cardio-pulmonary unit of SWU Medical Center.

SWU PHINMA has been consistent in meeting its goal of molding students to become the best professionals in their respective fields. These developments are a concrete manifestation of its continuing commitment to achieve the university’s goals for more students to come in the future.
