RAFI, Capitol ink agreement to build classrooms

The provincial government and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) signed the memorandum of agreement yesterday afternoon for the construction of 75 classrooms in 10 towns across the province.

The Memorandum of Agreement was signed in a ceremony at the Social Hall yesterday.

The signatories were Roberto Aboitiz, president of Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI),  Department of Education Division Schools Superintendent, Dr. Arden Monisit, DepEd Regional Director, Juliet Jeruta, mayors of the recipient municipalities, Gov. Hilario Davide III, Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale and Board Member Peter John Calderon, chairman of the committee on education.

Two-story buildings with six classrooms each will be built in Sangat National High School in San Fernando town, Southern Cebu, Bagalnga Integrated School in Compostela, Calape National High School in Daanbantayan, Mantalongon

National High School, Barili, Mohon National High School, Sogod and Marikaban Integrated School, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.

Three-story buildings with nine classrooms each will be built in San Remigio National High School, Catmon Integrated School and Carmen National High School.

While a four-story building with 12 classrooms will be built in the Mandridejos National High School.

Anthony Dignadice, executive director of the Education Development Unit of RAFI said the foundation is the province’s partner in addressing problems of  classroom shortage.

RAFI will spend P67.5 million while Capitol will counterpart P38.9 million in this project.

Last year, RAFI also built about 200 classrooms in typhoon-hit municipalities in Northern Cebu.

The construction will start this year and will take 12 months to finish.
