THE Cebu Provincial Government allocated P15 million for the renovation of the Polambato Port in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said the port needs to be renovated to “bring economic progress in Bogo City and the neighboring towns through increased passenger and cargo traffic.”
Davide said the Bogo City government wrote the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) but they have yet to receive any reply.
“The Bogo City government wants to operate the Polambato port because they think the Cebu Ports Authority (CPA) lacks funds to operate it,” he said.
During the consultative meeting held in Bogo City in Monday last week, local officials presented how their constituents overcame the devastation caused by supertyphoon Yolanda on Nov. 8, 2013.
The Polambato port connects Masbate, Aklan, Negros Occidental, Samar and Leyte provinces.
