CEBU CITY, Philippines — Metro Cebu and the rest of Cebu province will have “partly cloudy to mostly cloudy” with chances of rain showers this week according to an official of the state weather bureau stationed in Mactan.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan) Chief Al Quiblat, these chances of light to moderate rain showers are still due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

“Kay ang bagyo layo ra man sa Visayas. Naa karon (ang bagyo) sa coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela, northern Luzon,” he said.
(This is because the typhoon is very far from the Visayas. It is now in the coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela in northern Luzon.)

Moreover, on Monday, August 28, cloudy skies are expected since the southwest monsoon will intensify.
“Mukusog-kusog na sad ang hangin, 40 to 55 kilometers per hour. Posible na nga naay chance dunay gale warning pero mabaw ang chance. As far as ulan is concerned, naa nay mga occasional heavy rains hangtud na na sa Tuesday kay medyo mukusog atong habagat nga maka apekto sa Visayas,” he said.
(The wind will grow stronger, 40 to 55 kilometers per hour. It is possible that there is a chance of raising a gale warning but that is a very slight chance. As far as rain is concerned, we will have occasional heavy rains that will be until Tuesday because the habagat or southwest monsson is quite strong and that will affect the Visayas.)

“Sa Wednesday, mo anam na pod ni’g palayo ang bagyo human siya mutuyok padulong didtong dapita sa Taiwan area,” he added.
(On Wednesday, the typhoon will slowly leave the Philippines after this will turn heading to the Taiwan area.)

With this, the weather condition would improve which would become “partly cloudy to cloudy” with moderate rains.
“Mo lurang-lurang na sad ang hangin hangtud na na sa Thursday,” he added.
(The wind will become calmer then and that will be until Thursday.)
The temperate will range from the average of 25 to 32 degrees celsius.
