CEBU CITY, Philippines — A father was arrested after he was accused of allegedly raping his 9-year-old daughter in Argao town in southern Cebu.
According to Police Major Ivy M. Bartolome, of the Argao Police Station in her report, the mother and the child reported the alleged rape to the police station, and a hot pursuit operation was conducted against the father.

Bartolome said that the mother told the police that the father allegedly sodomized their daughter.
The suspect was arrested at past 9 a.m. on August 27, or a few hours after the mother brought their daughter to the police station to report the alleged rape.

The father was detained at the Argao Police Station pending the filing of charges.
Police said the father would be facing a charge of statutory rape in relation to the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
Argao is a first class municipality in the province of Cebu, which is located 86 kilometers south of Cebu City.
