LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) has been coordinating with school principals in helping prevent students from being recruited into gangs and fraternities.
This as classes in public schools started last August 29, 2023.
Police Colonel Elmer Lim, city director of LCPO, said some principals were concerned about their students being recruited into gangs, especially after class hours.
“Nagsulti ko sa mga principal nga naa may gihatag nga number ang police sa inyoha, maka-request sila anytime kun naa bay makita nila nga kakulian para ma-prevent nato,” Lim said.
Lim said that he also ordered his sub-station commanders to patrol schools and ensure the security of students even after their classes.
“Mao lagi na inig tingbuhi na, especially during nighttime, kanang night school, nagpa-detail gyud ta ug police ug coordinate ta sa school para sa specific nga detalye for the purpose of security sa mao nga school,” he added.
Lim said the LCPO is in constant coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) regarding other security concerns on the start of classes.
He described the opening of classes on August 29 in the city as peaceful and successful.
Lim said that police personnel and help desk were detailed in schools, along with traffic personnel from the Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System (CTMS).
