THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles flashed their football wizardry yesterday by winning two titles in the Cebu International School (CIS): Friendship Cup 2015 Football Festival at the CIS football field in barangay Pit-os, Cebu City.
The Magis Eagles’ boys’ under-18 squad nipped host team CIS Dragons, 1-0, to win the crown with JM Kwan nailing the winning goal in the 18th minute.
Both SHS-AdC and CIS each finished with seven points in the group stage but the latter earned the top seeding owing to its higher goal difference.
Kwan went on to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
The Magis Eagles’ Team B also ruled the podium by bagging the girls’ under-19 crown through goal difference.
Magis Eagles-B and sister-team Magis Eagles-B both finished with 14 points but the former won the crown after nailing 13 goals against the latter’s six.
The tournament followed league-type format to determine the winners.
Alicia Deller was named the division’s MVP.
Meanwhile, Consolacion FC and Warshocks FC stunned favored squads to rule the under-9 and under-13 boys’ divisions, respectively.
Consolacion FC downed Saint Augustine International School, 2-1, in their final match.
Revilson Penserga snatched the division’s MVP honors.
Warshocks FC, on the other hand, blanked Consolacion FC, 4-0, to dominate the boys’ under-13 class.
Dave Cabucos went home with the MVP accolade.
Championship games in the men’s, women’s and inter-company divisions will be played today.
