Proposed ‘delivery riders hub’ ordinance up for public hearing.

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The proposed ordinance of Councilor Rey Gealon, which is called the “Delivery Riders Hub Ordinance,” received favorable observations from the council’s Committee on Laws, Ordinances, and Styling.

The committee submitted their report to the council on August 24, 2023.

Gealon submitted his proposed ordinance last February 7.

According to the report, the committee said that Gealon’s proposal conformed to the requirements of the validity of an ordinance.

Moreover, upon review, the committee recommends conducting a public hearing on the proposed ordinance with stakeholders on September 20, 2023.

Should the proposed ordinance be approved, the commercial establishments will be required to provide a waiting area for delivery riders.

Meanwhile, the food businesses that do not have a physical space to establish a hub will have to accommodate the riders into their premises.

Likewise, they also have to provide the riders seating spaces while they wait for the orders to be completed.
