CEBU CITY, Philippines — After the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC), the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) is preparing for the campaign period next month.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes, deputy provincial director for operations of CPPO said that they had not seen any untoward incidents during the filing of the certificates of candidacy for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023.
CPPO gears up for campaign period
He said that the CPPO was now focusing on the upcoming campaign period on October 19 to 28, and on the election day on October 30.
Caballes also said that they already had initial coordination with other government agencies to help them with their manpower.
He said that since the manpower of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was not enough, they coordinated with the personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Personnel from the AFP and PCG will be working closely with the PNP during the election day.
“Mao na atoang gi-prepare karon, ang manning sa personnel, ang mobility, in close coordination sa atoang provincial election officer,” he said.

In relation to the gun ban ordered by the (Commission on Elections) Comelec on August 28 to November 29, the checkpoints are also ongoing in the entire province every day for security concerns.
There are Comelec checkpoints in every municipality and cities in Cebu province.
“In some areas dinhi sa (here in the) province, during the conduct of checkpoint, naa tay (we have) personnel from Joint Task Force Cebu nga mo-join pod sa (who will join us in the ) conduct sa Comelec checkpoint,” he said.
