CEBU CITY, Philippines — A 52-year-old barangay tanod landed in jail after he was caught with P612 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tagnucan in Borbon town in northeast Cebu.
Police Captain Roel Tanza, Borbon Police Station chief, identified the suspect as Rommel Iway of Barangay Tagnucan.

Tanza said in his report that Iway, who was also a habal-habal driver or a motorcycle-for-hire driver, was caught with 0.09 grams of suspected shabu during the buy-bust operation at past 9 p.m. of September 8 in the barangay.
He said that the 0.09 grams of shabu were in two sachets, which were taken from the suspect, had a market value of P612.

The police captain also described Iway as a street level individual in their list of drug personalities.
Iway was detained at the Borbon Police Station detention cell pending the filing of charges.
The police captain said that Iway would be facing charges of selling and possession of illegal drugs.

The arrest of the barangay tanod was a joint operation of the Borbon Police Station’s intelligence unit, Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
Borbon is a fourth class municipality of the Province of Cebu which is located at least 80 kilometers northeast of Cebu City.
